Coulomb Technologies Announces New Smart Charging Infrastructure for Plug-In Vehicles

City of San José and Coulomb Technologies Team Up to Plug In and Go Green

San José, CALIF. – July 21, 2008

Event:

Join Mayor Chuck Reed and Coulomb Technologies CEO Richard Lowenthal for a media availability announcing the latest in green technology: a smart charging infrastructure for plug-in vehicles, including electric cars, plug-in hybrids, and more.

Mayor Reed and Lowenthal will demonstrate how residents will be able to charge plug-in vehicles from smart charging stations located on streetlights, curbside and parking lots. Vehicles on hand will include a new plug-in hybrid as yet unseen in Northern California.

This media availability will take place at Plug-In 2008, a conference and exposition that showcases how residents can drive cars that average 100 miles per gallon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Mayor Reed will deliver welcome remarks at the Plug-In 2008 opening plenary session at 8:30 a.m.

Background:

As part of San José's innovative Green Mobility Showcase, Coulomb Technologies will demonstrate ways that residents and visitors can plug-in and charge up their vehicles. Major automakers have announced delivery of plug-in vehicles to the U.S. marketplace by 2010.

Reporters will see the Mayor and Lowenthal demonstrate the new charging stations – and have the opportunity to experience the technology hands-on. Also on hand, a major automaker's new plug-in hybrid vehicle, not before seen in Northern California.
