Station of the Day: Burbank, Calif.

April 23rd, 2012

  • Who: BMW ActiveE driver Murat K. sent us this nice photo from Burbank, Calif.
  • Where: 301 E Olive Ave, Burbank, California 91502, United States
  • What makes it cool? According to Murat, ‘”this is one of the 10+ ChargePoint stations in Burbank located in the parking lot of the Community Service Building in Burbank.  It is within walking distance of my home and provided crucial Level II charging for me while I waited for my home ChargePoint unit to be installed.  With the great ChargePoint app on my phone, I was able to monitor the charge from home.  The ActiveE was also pretty inconspicuous among all the white CNG city vehicles typically parked in the lot.   In general, I’m very impressed with Burbank’s commitment to EVs.  In addition to the numerous charging stations, the city’s department of water and power provides rebates for charger installations and billing credits for miles driven in an EV.  The city also recently installed smart meters in my neighborhood and I look forward to look at using time-of-day based electricity rates.”’
